Last night was Tegan's 1st grade class program! It was a cute program and one of the best ones I've been to! The weather was terrible, but it was well worth the outing!! Tegan sang and had the cutest expressions!! Kanesia and Carter also had their Band concert this week and did excellent!! Hope everyone is wrapping away and awaiting Santa's arrival!! Tegan is doing his countdown!!

New York has been a whirlwind tour, Maine, Boston, Conn., and New York. Mark and I traveled and caught up with friends and just enjoyed all the sites. Boston was fun, New York was amazing, Maine was beautiful!!! The food was amazing.....now have to lose the ten pounds I gained!!! Riding the train into New York, taking the Subway, taxi's....oh yes....Tiffany's!!! We were on the Empire State Bldg, Macy's, Radio City Hall, Freedom Tower, a glance at the 'Reflecting pools', Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Trinity Church, along with great food, Lobster in Maine, Pizza & Bagels in New York, Steak in Conn., Starbucks on every corner! And last but not least.......super fast great internet!!! I will miss that!! But I am on my way back home and can't wait to see my kids and family and friends!!

This week has been busy.....getting ready for elections and Page had her Coronation. Yesterday I did a pre-recording of the biography for the 'live debate', and a radio interview. Thank you Kristi for fixing my hair and make up! I hope everyone is enjoying the crisp air and the beautiful fall colors!!! I have a council meeting Tuesday the 27th at 6pm, Wednesday the 28th is the 'Live Debate' at the Burma Rd. Chapel at 7pm and Thursday the 29th is the North Pacific Fisheries Reception. I hope to see everyone out and about this week!! Council contributed $6,000.00 for food for the reception.......so please come by!!!

Well not much happening here, the ususal work and my demanding kids. Just kidding, my kids are pretty darn cute. Weather has been super weird. Friday we had frost on our cars in the morning, and then the next morning it was 55 degrees? But just waiting on the berries to ripen to go pickin' with the kids. Did a spiral perm on Catina, turned out super cute on her. And took a photo yesterday of a gorgeous sunset. Was about 9pm. Hoping everyone is enjoying the last of the summer weeks. It's almost back to school.....where did the summer go? :-) Take care.

Can you believe this week has been summer time in Unalaska. We had 74 degree weather at 9pm on Friday!! and Seventy on the Monday before. In the mid sixties in the middle of the week. Not a lot to report from Unalaska. Returned home two weeks ago, weather here has been great! Kanesia and Carter are still on vacation until the 31st. I sure miss them! But I am back home with Tegan.....missed my little guy! So we have been hiking, going to playgrounds, and he has been my big helper at the salon. I hope all is going well with you and your family.

Vacation has been a whirlwind tour of Washington and Oregon. We drove from Seattle to Portland, Oregon then to Bend, Oregon and now we are in Snoqualmie, Washington and will be traveling to Seattle today. We have had such a busy but fun vacation. Weather has been great and it has been wonderful to see friends and family. Thank you Uncle Bill and Aunt 'Em, thank you mom, and sis Dana. Oh can't forget Brian, Joann and Austin. Catching up with family and having dinner together, and playing basketball has been my highlight for me with my kids. I will be flying home soon, it will be nice to be home and not living out of my suitcase anymore. I hope all is well with everyone, take care.

So far vacation has been fun and busy!! Before I left Dutch I had a little Birthday dinner at the Grand!! That was fun and yummy food!! We got into Seattle Thursday night and have been running ever since. We have gone to Bellvue to see my mom and sis with her family, we have shopped and bought some fun stuff. We have gone to a tour in Bremerton on the USS Turner Joy, an old Naval ship. Gone on a pic-nic with my family. Watched the movie 'Green Lantern' and have ate at lots of good fast food retaurants!! We are also tagging along with Brian, his sister Joann and her son Austin. It has been fun and not one dull moment!! Wishing everyone a Happy 4th of July!!!

Well it is almost time for my kids and I to head south for a little Sunshine!! We are excited and have a fun filled vacation planned. We also get to see Kanesia and Carter's big brother Keifer!! We miss him and will it will be good to see him.

We also had a Tsunami warning. There was a 7.4 earthquake in Adak, well we felt it here in Unalaska and the sirens were going off and people driving up the hills. The Tsunami was called off but it is always great to be safe than sorry.

Other things happening......my brother Don and his wife Christine had their 20th Anniversary!! They had some friends and family over to celebrate. It was a very nice evening with some excellent food!

Laneah had a baby shower. She had some really cute friends at her shower and it was a very fun time for Catina and baby as they were showered with love and beautiful gifts!!

Summer vacation has been pretty fun so far. Tegan had a tour of the USCG helicopter. He loved it. We have been on the boat too. Weather has been ok, and pretty soon the hills will be all covered in a green blanket. Kanesia and Carter returned from basketball camp. They had a fun trip. Our next trip is to Seattle at the end of the month. Not to much to report, hope you enjoy the photos! Take care.

We went out on the 'Miss Peppers' and did some great fishing. Dropped crab pots, went halibut fishing, bass fishing, seen humpback whales, albatross, otters, and rainbows!! Our friend Michelle brought back fresh oysters from Washington State and we thoroughly enjoyed those! The OC banquet was another great feast and always good to see friends! Kanesia and Carter are in Anchorage at basketball camp, sure miss them, but they are watching movies and shopping for a week after camp! Hope every one's summer is going well.

This time of year we all have to have a great sigh of relief as the school year ends. Sports practices are over, weekend games are over, kids projects are over, it is a little reprieve as we enjoy a few months of sunshine before going back to the grind. Kanesia was a server at prom, she really enjoyed that as an 4.0 GPA 8th grader. They pick students to serve with good grades. Tegan and I toured the newest Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf. He was very excited and really enjoyed the tour of the 'bridge' as he got to drive the Cutter! Graduation was very nice and long as always. I accepted my niece Catina's diploma as she is in Anchorage having her 2nd child next month. I am very proud of her graduating and starting a new chapter in her life. Wishing her much luck and love along with the rest of her graduating class!! I hope everyone has a great and safe summer! We will be going to Seattle the end of June for 2 wks! Can't wait. Sunshine and shopping!

I flew into Seattle Thursday. It has been busy with dinners and spending time with friends and family. My main reason was to attend the Seattle Fisherman's Memorial. The Memorial was dedicated in October of 1988. One of their moto's is ' Seattle Fishermen's Memorial is devoted to promoting safety in the fishing fleets and easing the burden of the families and friends of fishermen/women who have lost their lives at sea.' Another is 'With family and friends, the Seattle Fishermen's Memorial remembers with honor and respect these fishermen who have lost their lives at sea.' You can see the website at seattlefishermansmemorial.org if you would like to see all they have to offer. It is an amazing dedication. My sister Justina was lost at sea in 1983 on a fishing vessel. She was never found, and with the help of some very great friends, she is remembered. Her name was etched in the appropriate year the boat went down, and she also had a 'personal tile' with her name on it. It was very special to actually see it, because it has been a long process, but well worth it!! The Memorial service itself was very beautiful and peaceful. Thanks to Dave and Valerie for attending, Dana, Moms, Keifer, and Hunter for being my chauffers!! We had a nice brunch at 'Chinooks' and the weather was spectacular. Dinner at the Metropolitan Grill was amazing! There will be photos of Dave, Val, Dana and I. We also went to the Snowqualmie Falls, beautiful and peaceful, tranquility. We watched my nephew Tate play baseball. It was a beautiful day, 60 degrees. And his team won by one run!! It was awesome!! Of course we went to Bellvue Square, dropped a few dollars for the economy of Bellvue! And now plan on a little road trip to Portland with my mom Diana. Back to Alaska in a few days and will be nice to be home again. This has been a bittersweet trip. Amazing, beautiful, georgeous, fun, exciting, and much happiness! Busy weekend with Kanesia's B-day Party, Tegan coloring Easter Eggs, and Carter having a basketball game. It was a nice Easter weekend and I am looking forward to a week in Seattle. Carter's Basketball game went into overtime and his team won!! He had a great game. Tegan colored Easter eggs and had a blast! He wouldn't let them sit in the bowl very long because he was so excited about the color, maybe next year he will wait a little longer. The Unalaska /Port of Dutch Harbor and Convention and Visitors Bureau had a successful Wine Tasting event at the Grand Aleutian. It is a fundraiser for their non-profit. 8 wonderful wines that were paired with excellent appetizers. A big 'Thank you' to the Chef's and Kitchen staff who did an awesome job! And the staff that set up and cleaned up after the event. Also all the attendee's who made the event a success. The event was sold out. The big ticket of the night was a chance to win 2 round trip tickets anywhere Alaska Airlines fly's! No I didn't win!! But my next trip is to Seattle at the end of the month! It will be a great trip as our family will be attending the 'Fisherman's Memorial' for my sister. It will also be nice to see my friends who I haven't seen in awhile. Wishing everyone a Peaceful and Happy Easter.

A beautiful sunny day in Juneau. Then it rained for two days after.

Been home for a week and the weather has been very interesting. Warm, sunny, cold, snow, windy, rainy. All in one hour. But it is Unalaska, Alaska where the weather can change at any moment. Work has been busy, kids are doing great in school, and I have a City Council meeting tonight. This month is my friend Aura's birthday and my daughter Kanesia's birthday. Wishing you ladies a great and wonderful Birthday and another year full of happiness! Haven't been taking too many pictures lately, so here are more of Juneau. Still trying to catch up, and as soon as I catch up I will be headed to Seattle the end of the month. Will let you know about that trip on the next post, next week. Gives me something to think about! We had a successful trip to Juneau. We attended a lot of meetings and had our annual City of Unalaska Reception. It was a good turn out and was nice to see all the legislators at the reception. This weekend has been a bit of a fun weekend. Not only was I sick for 3 days, yes can you believe that I was out of the Salon for 3 days?!! That is my longest sick stint yet!! Had a horrible cough and sinus infection. I am only on my 4th day of antibiotics and am now feeling ok. It is still lingering, but I'm on the mend! Thank goodness!! On another note my daughter Kanesia and her friend Cheyanne received an 'Abstract Award' in Anchorage for the State Science and Engineering Fair. Congratulations Girls!!! Also Saturday A.B. Rankin, Denise Rankin, Zac Shasteen, my son Carter and I were invited for a luncheon on the USCGC MORGENTHAU. It was a bit of an experience as the weather was not that great, but we did have a wonderful tour, and an excellent lunch with some of our fine Coast Guard men and women. My son Carter had a great time and received his first 'Command Coin' from XO Greg Wisener. They presented us with a nice commemorative plaque and it is hanging nicely on my Salon wall. Thanks crew for a very enjoyable afternoon. As for our 100 mph winds, they have died down momentarily and won't be surprised if we have another blast soon. Tegan has swim lessons this week, and he is such a trooper. He still has tubes in his ears, so he has ear plugs and a headband to wear. But he is determined to be a fish!! He is pretty cute, he told me yesterday he wants to back to Hawaii. I couldn't keep the boy out of the water there. It is lightly snowing today. Think I will go home and enjoy another day off before my real days back to work start tomorrow! Take care.

Sorry about not posting....my good friend from High School emailed me and asked what was going on? Why haven't I posted in awhile? So guilty I am for not posting, and all my excuses are lame, my apologies!! News from Unalaska/Dutch Harbor.....Tegan turned 6 years old on Friday!! We had a big birthday party for him. He requested his favorite....cheese pizza and chicken fried rice! We had a house full of friends and family. And Tegan told me as I was putting him to bed, 'mom this was my bestest birthday party ever!' He was pretty cute. Then of course we had the 'Tsunami scare', where we thought we may be evacuated to higher grounds, good thing I live on Nivana hill. Friends were going to come over if it was going to actually happen, we all sat and waited and they never evacuated . Kids are doing great. Kanesia is traveling to Anchorage on Thursday for a science fair. She and her friend Cheyanne did a project on 'Biochemical Oxygen Demand' and won the science fair in their grade. So they are excited for the trip into Anchorage! Carter and Tegan are finishing up playing Soccer. Keifer is planning to move to Seattle next month. Planning to go back to school. I am excited for him, wish him lots of luck and love!! City Council has been busy with meetings and work sessions. We always have a lot going on. I am traveling to Seattle for the Seattle Fisherman's Memorial. My sister Justina went down on a boat in 1983, I was young when it happened and I just applied to have her name added to the memorial, they accepted and her name revealing will be May 1st. It will be a good trip for me and my family. Kids will stay home for school, but I do look forward to it. Happy Birthday to my friends who have birthday's next week!! Happy Spring everyone!!

Sunday it snowed nicely, just perfect for a snowman and snowangels! Tegan and I had a blast playing out side the house sledding down the hill and having a snowball fight. He won of course! When we made the snowman, he suggested blueberries for the eyes and mouth. Pretty cute idea on his part. I just had the carrot part down and was going to dig out some gravel from the driveway..... nothing gets past that boy! Have to apologize for not posting as much, but between soccer and basketball the weeks fly by!! I will try to post a little better. The weather has been unpredictable (nothing new), it will rain and turn around and snow, but it is that time of year. Hope everyone is doing great and staying warm. Happy February!! :-)

Happy New Year! I can't believe I haven't posted in a month. It has been a busy month, the kids are playing full blown sports. Kanesia is playing basketball, Carter and Tegan are playing soccer. So I had soccer mom duties in picking up and dropping kids off, and watching games!! It was awesome! The weather has been pretty decent. Been going for walks and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Well with counting the days down, being a very good boy :-), and writing a list.....Santa Claus made it to town. Tegan had a very successful Christmas. Tegan requested Bakagan toys, a Christmas train, and Harry Potter wii.....He received everything from a fire truck he can sit in, to a Star Wars fighter, a soccer ball, videos, play doh, and books!!! We had a wonderful day. We had breakfast and opened presents, played with toys, cleaned up a little then went to Chris and Don's for dinner. What an amazing dinner they prepared!! Tegan was Ironman for Halloween. We had some fun trick-o-treating, then we went to the Halloween fair at the community center. I think it was a successful night with a full bag of candy. He has had a few pieces of candy, but doesn't need the sugar. It's kind of nice not to have a child with a belly ache! October was a month that I was glad to see over with. This month is Carter's birthday and Thanksgiving! And will be a little less hectic then last month! It is great to see the blanket of snow covering the mountains. The fresh, crisp air is refreshing. The cleaning off the cars in the morning is a fun time with snow splatting you in your face....oh the joy of winter. Wishing everyone a warm and wonderful Thanksgiving.

We went on a boat ride and Tegan thought he would try his hand at running a boat....I think he liked it quite a bit. Today is a windy, rainy day. Aloha from The Royal Kona Resort in Kona, Hawaii.....we have been enjoying our vacation and the wonderful warm weather. It has been 85-90 degrees everyday. We find a different beach everyday to go swimming, snorkeling, building sand castles, and sun bathing (for mom). We have been to a lu'au that had amazing food, and great entertainment. We have gone to the farmer's market and had a coconut drink out of a real coconut. Yummy. We have gone to the Hawaii Volcanoes National park, seen steaming vents and walked thru a lava tube!! We have 2 more days here and have too much to do and not enough time. We have to leave some to do for our next trip I guess?.... But my favorite part was seeing our friends Lito and Nica!! They are doing wonderful and it was nice to catch up and see them. We haven't seen them since they left Unalaska in 2003. We had a great BBQ and laughed about old times!! Kanesia and Carter attended our annual Camp Quangaayux, a culture camp here in Unalaska. They learn how to make Aleut bentwood hats, head dresses, grass basket weaving, Aleut language, and Aleut dancing. There are more classes that are offered, but these are what they chose. After a week long camp that goes from 8:30 am to 5pm they have a 'potluck' luncheon. It is such a fun time for the kids to learn and to reunite as friends and to start the new school year off on the right foot. They all had fun and made beautiful crafts!

Last week we had a fun busy week. We had a boat ride on a beautiful day! On the 4th of July we had a funfilled day. This weekend was a beautiful weekend!! Hiking and Camping was our plan for the weekend. We had a great time camping at Morris Cove and I have hiked Bunker Hill and Ballyhoo on our sunny days! Today was even a warm morning. Looks like the weather is trying to clear up too!! The kids had fun camping, catching fishies, throwing rock, and the most favorite of all time....making smore's!! We had a fun time together and hope to do it again soon!! I hope everyone is enjoying summer and that all is well.

Amy, hope you feel better, I know it was our crazy chauffer!! Thanks to the rest of our team, that laughed all night. Robin much luck, love, and happiness to you and Brian!! Thank you Shani & Jess for the fun evening out! We have to plan for next year's party!!

Work has been very nice. I have been rearranging and the Salon has a nice new look to it, with much needed privacy. I also cleaned out junk I no longer use and it looks like I have a new salon! Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dad's out there. We had a nice BBQ with friends and family. Tegan and I made Dad a cake and the BBQ was delicious! NEXT......4th of July!!!

We attended the Ounalashka Corporation's Annual banquet a couple weeks ago. It was fantastic and well catered by the Grand Aleutian!!! And well attended. The whole gymnasium was full. They always have a theme to their banquet, and back by popular demand was a 'Cowboy' or 'Country' theme. They had tons of bandana's tied together for decorations. For the kids they gave out goodies, a cowboy had, a little bag of candy and fun things like fake gold, gold nugget bubble gum, and a sheriff badge! Pretty cute! For dinner they had fried chicken, baked beans, salads, prim rib, corn, mashed potatoes, much more, and a ton of desserts! Thank goodness it is only once a year!!! Thank you OC for a wonderful dinner and a fun time!! Enjoy your summer!!

What.....the month of June already?? I can't believe kids are out of school and are enjoying sleeping in and having some summer fun. The memorial service that the Ballyhoo Lions club put on Monday was a very nice service. Thank You Ballyhoo Lions and everyone who spoke. Tegan graduated from Pre-kindergarden Wednesday!! They will now allow him into Kindergarden!! He is going to have some fun with the teachers! Weather has been beautiful and hiking has been very nice! It is so nice to see the sun here and there, and the mountains are slowly turning green. It is also nice to have longer days with daylight. We went on our first boat ride with Uncle Don and Aunty Chris yesterday. Tegan had a blast on the boat, he thought being on water was pretty cool. He has done it before....just doesn't remember. We are attending the Ounalashka Corporations Banquet tonight. Always fun and of course catered by the Grand Aleutian!! Yummy food, and great conversation!! Well the weather has been ok to walk in. A little rain and wind, I see sprigs of green here and there, but before we know it, summer will be here! Saturday was Prom, I have photos of Catina and her friends; Brandon, Katie & Jimmy. They were dressed so cute......the prom was decorated very, very, well. A 'masquarade' theme prom, was neat with gossomer, balloons, and glitter! You can tell alot of effort was put into it! This Saturday is Graduation, I think there are 25 graduates. That is always fun to attend. The Seniors put on a slide show and say 'goodbye' to all of their friends and family. The guest speakers are sometimes teachers that have a fun prank or a good speech including the students history of 'good' behavior! Sirahna is graduating Saturday, I want to wish her much 'Luck' in college and to enjoy her new life in Washington State. Katie is also graduating and going off to college, have fun, but not too much fun, don't forget to study too!! Congratulations Class of 2010; this is just the beginning of your life, make the best of it!!

We had Jury Duty today, what a fun time that was. We had 75 jurors called to duty, 15 were selected, and the jurors numbered up to 45 had to stay at the courthouse. Jurors numbered 46-75 were to call back Tuesday at 12pm. The courthouse was small and stuffy for all of the jurors. I hope we will be dismissed and that they selected a jury! I am juror number #73!! I went for a walk today, weather was decent and I am ready for summer to be here, I am tired of the 'brown' look! Todd is in Philadelphia, and visiting his parents, he will be in nice warm weather. I hope everyone had a great and fun Mother's Day! My weekend was a wonderful and busy weekend. Saturday I volunteered with other diver's to clean the small boat harbor the A & B floats by the Harborview inn. It was a success and a fun dive. The Unalaska Diver's Association does an annual clean up each year to kick off 'Clean up week'. It was pretty fun and we found some fun stuff. Don was my buddy and we found a coat, cans, bowls, a wrench, and line. Sebatian and Jennifer found 3 tires and a battery. On Sunday I didn't dive but I heard they found a small stove or a smoker. On Sunday we had a fun day, Todd washed the car, we cleaned the entry way, and prepped for our BBQ with family and friends! It was such a beautiful day we even sat in the sun and ate outside! And the food was delicious!! Christine brought over crab/artichoke dip, Billie Jo brought salmon dip, Sara brought dark chocolate and strawberries!! And we had ribs, steak, hamburgers, and hotdogs! Plus all of the side dishes, coleslaw, macaroni salad, taters, and fresh biscuits!! And for dessert Kanesia made the 'mom's' a heart shaped cake!! It was a perfect day with beautiful roses and special cards from everyone! Tegan made me the cutest painting that is on my wall with a sweet hand made bracelet! Thank you all for making our day a wonderful one!! Wishing you a funfilled week. :) Will post photos as soon as the blogspot will let me!!!

It has been 2 weeks since we returned from vacation, it has been busy. Kanesia's 13th Birthday today!!! She had a fun birthday with family and friends over for dinner and cake!! She also had three of her girl friends for a sleep over!! It has been good to be back home in the swing of things. Kids are doing great in school. Carter had a swim meet and did very well. He won his freestyle and backstroke events!! Kanesia will be a server for Prom night! Tegan is still in full swing of Star Wars and loves to watch the 'Princess and the Frog' movie. Todd is back to work and he will be participating in the St. Baldrick's event next Saturday. The Salon is having a color special for shavee's.......bleach and bright color before you are shaved for only $20 and the funds will go towards the St. Baldricks event on May 1st at the Burma Road Chapel. I can't believe it will be the 1st of May already!! It looks like we will have a nice 'berry' picking season as the snow is still melting from the mountains, and also means water supply will be good. We have been gone a week and we have been to Philly, Wisconsin Rapids, & Chicago!! It has been a busy trip, but nice to see Todd's family. Philly was beautiful and 80 degrees!! Grandma and Grandpa we miss you and hope you are doing well. Then we were in Chicago Thurday and it was 45 degrees, we drove up to Wisconsin Rapids and it has been around 60. We are traveling back down to Chicago today to make our plane tomorrow back to Alaska! Tegan has been a great little traveler, he likes airplanes!! The 5 hour drive is a little tough, but over all he does great!! Todd's brother's memorial fund raiser for his family was awesome!! There were soooo many people, sooo many raffles, prizes, food. It was nice to meet everyone, it was a bit overwhelming, but good. It was good to see Todd's brother Chris and family. We haven't seen them in a couple of years and the kids are growing so much. Tegan was happy to meet all of his cousins!! I will post photos when I get back home. Don't know if I brought my cord for the camera.....oops! I hope everyone has a great week and we will be home soon! Yay! Can't wait to see Keifer, Kanesia, & Carter! Miss & love you guys!

Hey everyone!! Sorry it's been a while, but I had a trip to Juneau with City Council. It was a good trip, but we will see if it was successful or not next month!! It is always a busy trip when you are visiting Senators and Representatives, and we even met with Governor Parnell!!! That was exciting, because I have been on the council for 8 years, and we haven't been in the Governor's office since. I remember Governor Murkowski, and Palin had nothing to do with us, but Governor Parnell's remark was 'It shouldn't be that way', I thought that was super cool!! Also flying in on a beautiful day was awesome!! The weather was perfect, blue skies, no wind, and the 'infamous' Akun island that everyone is envious about!!! A bigger airport than Dutch Harbor??!! What will we ever do?! I say good for them!! I hope they are successful and construct a 21st Century Airport that can have jets land with no problems!! Lucky!! and Good Luck!! Other photos are from our icky stormy weather (just one photo). I was leaving work and had to sit in my truck for about 5 minutes for the storm to pass to finally have some viz to drive home, and stopped 2 times to find the road that same night!! Scary.......I also spent time in Tegan's Pre-kindergarden class. It has been fun to watch and listen to the curious minds ask questions!! They are super cute and fun kids!! I have a week in Unalaska and then I am off for 2 weeks to the east coast. Weather should be nice and I am looking forward to it. I hope all is great with everyone and wishing everyone a 'Happy Easter'!!!

We were suppose to make it back Friday....the plane canceled. I am glad we didn't fly out here and then have to fly another 3 hours back. We finally made it Saturday evening!! Didn't get our luggage, but we knew that was going to happen because a lot of flights have not been making it. So we hand carried Tegan's 'Obi-wan' teddy and the lego's 'Starfighter'.......he was so happy when we came in!! He ran thru the airport yelling 'mommy'!! It was awesome. After our bumpy flight from Cold Bay and barely having any visibility we landed. Poor Kanesia was not feeling good, but she didn't throw up!! We checked in at 7:45am because they said to be there before 8am.....well they had a 5am flight and we didn't make it on the 10am. the 12:30 was delayed until 2pm, and we made it on that plane. We stopped in Cold Bay to 'fuel' but ended up getting off of the plane to wait for the weather to clear, we finally landed at 7pm! It was a long day. And still no luggage!! But we have had another foot of snow fall last night, amazing!! Nice sledding snow!! The VM numbers are out.....we had raised money for our local non-profit 'USAFV' and raised over $2,700. Isn't that great!? Good Job ladies!! Well I am happy to be home and be with my family, Anchorage was another long trip, but it was a good one for medical. All is good and I don't want to see another Dr. for a long time, although I have a 3 month follow up. OK ...I can take 3 months!! Hope everyone is doing great and have a safe week!! :)

Tegan has been a 'Star Wars' kick. Last month when I was in Anchorage I bought Tegan series 4-6 because they didn't have the first three. He has watched them over and over.......I also bought him Star Wars Lego's and light saber toys.....he loves them totally!! So being in Anchorage I bought him new Star Wars toys since his birthday will be on March 11th, turning 5 years old!!! Today while we were at the 5th Avenue Mall my daughter Kanesia wanted to wander in the 'Build-A-Bear Workshop'.....it was cute and we had a fun time there. Hope you enjoy Tegan's new Teddy named 'Obi-wan kanobi' (don't know if I spelled his name right) but I think he is going to love him, because Kanesia put a lot of love making him. She stuffed the bear, put a heart in him, gave him a bath (just defuzzing him) and dressed him, and got his bear birth certificate!! Next month when we pass thru Anchorage we will definitely take him to the Museum Exhibit!! The ad was hanging on the elevators in the 5th Avenue mall!! Cool!! Hope everyone is having a good week, and that martini looks awfully good CB! We are going to Sullivan's tonight! YUM-O!! We had fun here in Anchorage, but can't wait to get home to our family!!! Science Fair, Medical appts, & V monologues

These past two weeks have been very busy. Kanesia and Carter had a Science Fair, they both did very well with their partner in the projects. Kanesia was with Cheyanne, and Carter was with Gabe. They had a lot of fun. Kanesia and Cheyanne did a project on 'Oil Spills, and Chemical Dispersant's'. Carter and Gabe did a project on ' Wind Speed'. It was very good information and they worked very hard on their projects. Good Job to all of the kids!!
We also had V-monologues last weekend. We had a cast of 15 woman, it was a success and a lot of fun. We raised money for our local USAFV (Unalaska against Sexual Assault and Family Violence) shelter. I thought it was very well attended and hope we raised some money for the shelter. Thank you to our director, Sara Brewer and all of the behind scenes people!!! We couldn't have done it with out you!! I will be traveling to Anchorage for medical appts. Sunday and return Thursday, should be a good trip, I will be taking my mom Irene and my daughter Kanesia. Next week is also the Aleutian Basketball Tournament!!! So if you get a chance go watch some excellent sports!! Call the school for schedules, cost, and times of the games at 581-1222.

Eleven days in Anchorage is long enough to be away from home. I am scheduled to be home this afternoon. I will miss Anchorage, but not too much, I will be back next month. Aura is recovering well with her knee surgery. The weather is warming up here in Anchorage too...27 degrees. I will be happy to see my friends and family, and be in my own home!! If you haven't seen Dave Barsky's Blog on Discovery website for Dirty Jobs, he did an excellent job on his tribute to Capt. Phil Harris. You have to see it. Condolences go out to the family and friends of Capt. Phil, he will be greatly missed. Good job Dave. I will write again from Unalaska/Dutch Harbor, the thing I will miss most of Anchorage......internet speed!! Peace to all.

Hi everyone!! Good News Aura did awesome with her knee surgery. She is slowly moving around, but doing great!! We will be home Thursday. I have a MRI on Wednesday and will be back in Anchorage on the 1st of March for more Dr. appts. Weather here is cold. The SWAMC conference was very good. We seen the 'Governor's debate'! That was fun, there is like 6 candidates, and guess who didn't show up?? Yup the current Governor --Sean Parnell. Oh well, he was too busy. I hope this week goes quickly, I miss my kids and Todd terribly, and my own bed!!!! Anchorage is too cold anyway!! It's like in the single digits, 7 degrees. Rediculous!! I am ready to be home.......CB, hope the salon is still there!! The note should say 'Salon will open Friday, weather permitting'!!! :) :) I miss you too CB!! Hope all is well. Warm wishes!!

Hello from Anchorage!! I am here attending the South West Alaska Municipal Conference & The State Board of Fish meetings. Frank Kelty, Dick, and I all testified at the board of fish. And it was on Proposal 111. Closure to trawlers in Unalaska Bay. I think we all did well representing our community. We should hear today what the board does for action on the item. It is cold here and so far it has been an interesting trip. Aura is here and she has reconstruction knee surgery tomorrow. Well wishes for Ms. Aura!! I planned to be home on Saturday, but I have a unexpected surgery possibly happening. I have a MRI on Wednesday and will know more then. I hope all is well with everyone. I miss my kids and can't wait to be home!! Sorry CB, I hope you are keeping your sanity!! I will talk to you soon and fill you in. I need a new sign on my door saying 'Out of town, will update next Wednesday'!Grandma happy thoughts, hugs and kisses to you. We miss you. What a week this has been. Peking Restaurant caught on fire, Todd had a fire call at 4:30am on Wednesday morning and The Volunteer Fire Fighters, Public Safety, and EMS teams saved the building, the restaurant is damaged, but the whole building is still standing. The other businesses were damaged by smoke and water. I am glad 'No One' was hurt. Much prayers and happy thoughts to the people that are affected by the set back. Another huge story was APL's crane was put down by a demolition crew. This is the crane that was put down by the 180 mph winds last month. It was a definite loud boom and shake, and we live across the bay from it. Then a day later it caught on fire. The electrical room was caught on fire as they were trying to take it apart. I was driving home and there was a huge cloud of black smoke across the bay. Tegan knew daddy was on another fire call with Uncle Roger. Another sad story is Ace Cargo had a tragic accident in Sand Point. One of their Cargo planes went down as they were taking off, two pilots lost at sea. Condolences go out to their family and friends. They are still investigating and trying to figure out what went wrong. On a happy note 'THE SUN HAS BEEN SEEN IN UNALASKA'!!!! What a wonderful sight to see. It has been grey, windy and cold. So to see the sun has been such a great delight. More happy news Kanesia, Catina, and Carter have another round of great grades on their report cards!! I am a proud, proud parent!!! Keep up the awesome work kids!! Todd's mom Karen is doing well and recovering well. Our prayers and hugs and kisses to Grandma and Grandpa Joosse!! We miss you very much. My friend Aura on the other hands has had problems with her knee......she went sledding.....trying to show off to her friends and sprained her knee real good. She is going out to Anchorage for a MRI and happy thoughts to Aura. My dive buddy will be out of commission for a bit!! Hope all goes well. We are looking forward to Superbowl Sunday approaching real soon!! I also have volunteered to be in the 'Vagina Monologues'. Our local non-profit USAFV is sponsoring the VM for Domestic Violence Awareness. We have 15 great talented woman on the cast. It is an inspiring show that will open February 18 & 19th. Tickets will be on sale on the 1st of February in the Grand Aleutian Gift shop!! For my newest clients from Fish and Game 581-8100 not 1800!!! And last but not least, these photos for my friend Laura (Rodgers) and our Teachers Mr. & Mrs. LaCourse who lived here before, but left in the 80's. Some things have changed, some things haven't. I still am young, no grey hair, no wrinkles, and still a size 7!!! HA HA HA!!!

Wednesday Jennifer, Reid, Billie Jo, Aura, and I did a presentation to Ms. Aura's ESL class on Scuba Diving. It was real fun, the kids were interested and asked very good questions. Jennifer showed the class all of the equipment and why they are important to have, Reid did a slide show presentation with some great photos. He also emphasized on being very cautious not to disturb the life on the bottom of the ocean. Billie Jo assisted and I took photos of the class. After all the information was given, the kids had questions for us. 'How much does your equipment weigh?', 'Have you ever seen sharks?', 'What is the neatest thing you have seen under water?', very curious and interesting questions. I hope the presentation inspires some students to try to dive, it's a whole different world under water. The experience is scary at first, but so rewarding after the dive. Being under water is hard to describe, breathtaking, surprising, and adventurous!!

Merry Christmas again.....we celebrated Russian Orthodox Christmas this week. Russian Orthodox Christians use the Julian Calendar which is a week or so later than the Gregorian Calendar. In Unalaska/Dutch Harbor it is usually celebrated for 3 days of singing in the homes of the congregation. It is also a festive time, after singing in a home, the home offers food and beverages for the singers. We attended the Senior Center gathering and it was well attended. Tegan and his 'Headstart' class did a little performance after the choir sang. It was a very nice afternoon. Weather here has still been wet and grey. News at home. I finally received my Durango back after the auto place replaced two windows and repainted one side after the 180mph winds pummelled it last month!! It is nice to have my vehicle back! Work has been steady, and I am also gathering tax information for my accountant, I like to get that part done early and out of the way! Hayden will be 1 yrs old next month. He is walking all over the place and trying to say words! He also has a mouth full of teeth!! Wishing you all a great week!

THE ENGAGEMENT RING!!! Todd picked out a nice one!!! I Love You Todd!!

Well Happy New Year everyone!! This is my 100th post! Can you believe it? We had a great New Year Celebration. Sara, Reid, Billie Jo, Todd and I went to the Grand to have dinner, it was very good. Todd and I had a Caesar salad and seafood crepes. Interesting but tasty! After dinner we went down stairs to the 'Cape Cheerful' Lounge. Alyssa was playing music, everyone was drinking champagne, happy and in a great mood, it was a fun night. At midnight the fireworks starting going off and we all went out onto the deck to watch the fireworks go off across the bay!!! It was beautiful and breath taking, as the fireworks were going off Todd takes my hand and puts a beautiful ring on my finger and proposes to me!!! I was totally surprised and just taken away by the moment. I say 'YES'!! We kiss as the fireworks are going off and my friend Elizabeth see's what's happening and announces to everyone 'Hey everyone Todd just popped the question'!!! And it was hugs and kisses all night long from everyone with too much champagne! It was a very memorable night and AMAZING!! I still am in shock and still smiling, so now it's off to work and back in the swing of things......reality! Happy New Year!

We had such a good week. We had family and friends over for dinner, shopped, wrapped presents, cooked, cleaned, and had time with our family. On Christmas Morning we had my mom Irene, my nephew Cody, Niece Catina, her son Hayden, my son Keifer, son Carter, daughter Kanesia, and son Tegan, along with Todd and I opening presents. It was a lot of fun. Tegan would open a present and play with it, then open another and play with it....He finally opened his last present today. And I think it was his favorite. The spin and fix Thomas is what it was. And he loves his 'Mickey's Christmas' that Grandma and Grandpa Joosse sent him!! Kanesia and Carter had a great Christmas too. Although poor Carter had a bug and was not feeling too great, but was a trooper and opened presents and spent most of his day on the bed. Kanesia made me the cutest purse! She made it all by herself! She is amazing! Todd or Santa....gave me a new cell phone since my old one died! Santa also gave Todd a camcorder.....Keifer and Catina got some neat clothes from AE. and Hayden scored with tons of toys!! Carter got grandma Irene a pretty 'tea set'. Santa brought Carter video games and a basketball hoop for his door (he's been asking for that for awhile)! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and Wishing you a wonderful New Year! This year just flew by, it's been interesting, and productive, and full of surprises. I can only hope that we all have another year of friendship, family and full of surprises (good ones that is)!! Only three more days until Christmas. My kids are just toooo excited they can't stand seeing the presents under the tree.....little do they know I have more hidden away!! Trip to Anchorage was good and productive. Medical appts. went good. Shopping was a whirlwind, and it was very cold in Anchorage, but beautiful with all of the frost on the trees. I have been busy wrapping presents and sending Christmas cards out. Work at the Salon was crazy, but good. We also had a City Council meeting Saturday for the Small boat harbor. Then we have a meeting this Tuesday. The kids started their Christmas Vacation!! I have been wishing for a White Christmas, but think the snow will stick during Russian Christmas next month. Todd's mom Karen is doing well and recovering, much hugs, kisses, and love from all of us!! Hope to see you next month!! Last night was the annual City Christmas Dinner at the Grand Aleutian. It was a fun filled event. Tegan sat on Santa's lap for the first time without throwing a fit. It was pretty neat. Of course I misplaced my camera and didn't take a photo! But cousin Sirahna had a camera! Auntie Chris won 2 of the 3 give aways at last night's midnight madness sale!?!? How is that possible? I am happy that they received the nice gifts! Dinner was excellent, Thank you chefs! They have a busy month. It is Christmas party after Christmas party. Tegan also helped CB put tinsel on the tree this week. It was pretty funny. He didn't like CB getting up in the high spots....he told him 'you get down from there'!! The tree looks great CB!! I am flying into Anchorage today. I hope for a safe trip and good Dr. appts. If you can keep Todd's mom Karen in your prayers, we would appreciate it. She has surgery Tuesday and pray for a fast recovery. Thank you Jessica for lending me your mini-van while my Durango is still out of commission. I will fly back home on Wednesday and hoping the weather cooperates. Only 12 more days until Christmas!! Wishing everyone Peace, Love, and Joy!!

Our Dodge windows blown out!! Not one....but two!!

Of course everyone has read and heard about the 120 mph winds we have had Friday. I also heard we had gusts up to 180 mph. The worst damage was done on the American President Lines Crane. It was just blown over. Container vans turned, windows on homes and vehicles taken out. Decks and roof's blown away. My Dodge Durango and Todd's F-250 had some window damage. I had two windows blown out, and Todd had one blown out. But we were not the only ones with missing windows. I am just hoping that this was the worst of the storms for the winter. One can only hope. I am glad no one was hurt during the storm. I remember driving home and how the wind was pushing my truck to the side, it was scary. But to take our minds off of the terrible storm, we had the Annual 'Firefighter's Ball'. It is always a fun event. Everyone gets dressed up and we try to 'out bid' one another on the silent auction. Todd's band 'Rock-n-RevAleutian' played for the dancing part of the event. It was well attended and it is always to see everyone having a good time and being all dressed up. We also get to 'Thank' all of the 'Firefighter's' and 'EMT's'for their volunteerism for our community. We greatly appreciate all that you do. I had to throw the photo in of Todd and Tegan with their 'Manning' jersey's on. Wishing everyone a safe week.

Thanksgiving morning 'night' dive 2009

Two weeks ago we had a reception or ribbon cutting on the Unalaska City Schools remodeling. It was very well attended, the school received new carpet, roof, paint, windows, and a bigger kitchen!!! I don't know how they did it before, but it is so nice now! Thanksgiving was a fun, busy day as usual. I and 12 other divers went for the annual Thanksgiving morning 'night' dive. It was fun & cold, but well worth it. We dove off the 'Little South America' reef. It was neat to see 12 flashlights underwater moving around. After the dive we were warmed up by a nice bonfire and warm drinks. Thanksgiving dinner was filling as always, way too much food. The weather has been cold, warm, rain, snow, & don't forget about the wind. Sunday the electricity went out 2 times on the Unalaska side, and the cable was out for a bit, but Dutch Harbor side was out of electricity for 3 hours! But Thanks to the Powerhouse guys they managed to get things back in line. Oh the new powerhouse will be nice to have. So we stayed in Sunday and put up the Christmas decorations and had fun inside. Tegan had a blast decorating the tree. All of his ornaments were in one specific spot! Too funny. I can't believe it is December 1st already. It will be the New Year before we know it. We have to gear up for Christmas programs and Band Concerts!! Thank you Roads Crew for keeping the roads clear and The Powerhouse guys for keeping our heat and lights on, what would we do with out you? And of course the Cable guys who keep our TV sports, & shows on! Wishing everyone a safe week.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Sorry I haven't updated in a few weeks. A lot has been going on here, Catina and Hayden no longer live with us. :( It has been quiet with out them here, but we see them quite often and call a lot. Hayden is still cute as a button! He is now nine months and getting ready to walk! Weather has been crazy....last week we had snow, wind, rain, and a wee bit of sun!! Today is windy and snowy. Catina and Carter had birthday's!! Happy Happy Birthday!! Carter had a sleep over Saturday with 5 boys. They had fun watching movies, playing video games, and eating junk food and cake. For Carter's birthday we bought him Tom Brady because he loves the Patriots. He was even on his cake!!! Work has been well, we had the opportunity to meet a couple from Austrailia to see the 'Deadliest Catch' boats. Can you imagine flying all the way from Austrailia to see the boats and crews!! They were so nice and excited to be here! Marilyn and Gary I hope you come visit again soon! I missed CB last week at work, he was under the weather so he missed a few days! I hope he is on the mend. Work has been good and we also are having a council meeting Wednesday! I want to Thank Chef Boy for cutting his hair to donate to 'Locks of Love'. What a guy!! I hope CB follows thru with his part of the deal, I donated cutting, Chef boy cut his hair (LIKE 15 inches!!), CB was going to donate $100 to LOL!!
